About this Spot

This Park includes several sections, the first is the narrow shoreline strip from Gilman St. South to Schoolhouse Creek (called the ‘North Basin Strip’ on park maps). The second major area is the ‘Berkeley Meadow’ which is bounded by Virginia Creek in the North and University Ave. in the South. Note that the Northern-most section of Mclaughlin in Albany is included in the Albany Bulb segment.

Trash Note

There is significant amounts of older trash along the shoreline from Gilman to Schoolhouse Creek. The ‘North Basin Strip’ has large amounts of trash hidden away in the bushes from generations of campers. Park at the Southern Sports Field parking lot and walk South into the bushes, to find it. See map location. Berkeley Meadow also has trash from campsites.

Avoid cleaning active campsites unless you talk to the residents and get guidance from residents about what can be taken away. Potentially needles around homeless campsites.

Hazards & Safety

Parking at Gilman parking lot in the North, Tom Bates Sports Field Parking Lot in the Middle, Virginia Trailhead (unmarked) in the middle, and Seabreeze Cafe in the South.

The map location is for the Tom Bates Sports Field Parking Lot, however this lot is not always open.

Getting There & Parking

Trash should be hauled to the nearest parking lot, paved path, or road and staged.

Stage trash so that it is easy to load into a truck, and out of the right-of-way.
