About the Event

This is a beautiful area with significant ecological value; the bike path is used by cyclists and joggers.

We will be focusing on cleaning around the Tidal Canal itself, up through Tenth Ave. Separately, a smller group may work on the area under the bridge.

BRING water, a snack, and an N95 MASK - Some teams may be cleaning burned-out campsites that contain mold and burnt plastics; we strongly recommend wearing N95 masks and a long-sleeve shirt for this work.

After cleaning campsites, we recommend washing your entire arm before eating or smoking, and when you get home, to put your clothes directly into the laundry and take a shower.

We will be staging from the Laney College 'Overflow Parking Lot' which is better known as the Laney Flea Market location. To get there from Berkeley, take Hwy 980 to Oakland, and take exit 1B for Jackson St and then take a Right onto 7th. Navigation may route you to the Fallon St entrance but the gate that will be unlocked for us is on 7th Street, just before the bridge.

This area is a mix of a lot of loose trash. Wear comfortable shoes for walking.

HazardsMold and burnt plastics, watch for fast-moving cyclists on the path.
